Pedro Gerardo Tzunum fled Guatemala for the United States looking for education and opportunity, and running from threats to his physical safety. As a minor, he sought to educate himself, and learned English so he could pass the GED. Nine years later, Pedro Gerardo is a man connected to his church and his community. He gave two years to community service in Chicago, he has built a web of friendships and connections with families who love and support him. And he recently fell in love and married an American citizen, Laura Tzunum. They dream of building a life together.

On Saturday, September 10, 2011 Graciela traveled from Los Angeles to Miami to attend a job-related convention. Although she felt uneasy about this trip, Graciela decided continue with her travel plans since her job was the only income she had to support herself and pay for school. Unfortunately, while trying to enter the convention center at Port Everglades, ICE officials asked Graciela for identification. They then proceeded to arrest her when she showed them her Mexican passport. Graciela is currently detained at the Broward Transitional Center in Florida.

Jonatan was excited about his recent acceptance into Mercer University’s Master of Business Program. His hard work both in the community and at school was finally paying off. But a recent run-in with Immigration changed all of that. Jonatan is now fighting deportation to Mexico, a country he has not been to in 20 years.

The President has the power to grant an increase in the use of deferred actions and give temporary relief to those that have U.S. citizen children and are DREAM Act eligible. Tell him to take a stand and do the right thing!
